Dubai Police Department Becomes First To Have A Service In The Metaverse

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is still exploring the Metaverse industry. It is implementing many aspects of it across all sectors. On October 16, local news outlet Khaleej Times revealed that Dubai’s Ajman Police has officially become the first police force globally to have its services in the Metaverse ecosystem.

The Ajman Police General Command unveiled a new service called “Request for Sponsorship,” during the Gitex Technology Week program. The new innovative service will help the public access the police department remotely. Some officials from the Ajman Police Command were live at the Dubai Metaverse symposium.

Speaking on behalf of the Ajman Police General Command, Lieutenant Colonel Abu Shehab revealed that their participation in the event was to learn more about the relevance of metaverse technology to law enforcement agencies.

The UAE And The Metaverse Industry

During the event’s second day, Lieutenant Colonel Abu Shehab showcased the first series of the police command’s smart apps, which includes the best collection of about 70 designed services using the latest artificial intelligence and programming languages. The UAE wants to use new technologies to solve societal issues, and the Metaverse industry gives the police department another means of communication with the public.

According to the Dubai Police General Command, their new tech app is available in seven languages: French, Spanish, Russian, English, Arabic, and German. While reacting to the latest development, Major General Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, the director of artificial intelligence at the Dubai Police, admitted that the improved smart device app contains a section that keeps individual details and other transactions made by the owner. It also has the owners’ traffic violation history, offenses, and other vital data.

UAE’s Plans To Become A Metaverse Hub

The UAE is intensifying efforts to become a worldwide center for the metaverse. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Ruler of Dubai) already believes that the country’s Metaverse project will boost the long-term growth of the Emirates’ gross domestic product (GDP) through an all-digital economy.

This metaverse project’s primary focus is on developing local talent, innovation, and the government’s deployment of metaverse technology. The plan also requires many businesses throughout the country to embrace blockchain technology and increase the number of employment possibilities for the public.

Last year, the UAE initiated a financial trading platform built on blockchain technology in collaboration with Etisalat (a leading telecommunications firm) and seven local banks. The financial trading platform aims to reduce challenges in business operations by regulating fraud and financial crime risks.
